Teachers, the Smart Energy Academy needs you most of all!
On this page you can access all the resources you need to supplement the program, as well as the Home Energy Surveys to be distributed, collected and returned to the Smart Energy Academy.
Participating in this program and using its supplementary materials is easy and can integrate seamlessly with your established teaching methods, and remember to direct your students to the Student Activities page!
Here's a run-down on the best ways to use these resources:
BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE

Click on the EDUCATOR VIDEOS menu item and watch the Educator Preview video.

Two weeks prior to your performance you will receive an email with a link to the Student Pre-Performance Questionnaire. Instruct students in Grades 4-6 to use the link to complete the quick test before they see the live performance.

Review the student workbook to identify the appropriate level activities for your class.

From the student workbook, discuss with your students the Words To Know vocab list and plot of the story.
DAY OF THE PERFORMANCE

Your actors will arrive approximately 30 minutes before your scheduled performance times.

Please ensure you have notified your front office, and that you have your venue clean and clear and ready for their setup time.

Prepare classroom teachers to ensure students are lining up outside the venue 5 minutes before the scheduled time to ensure we can start on time and keep on track with your school timetable.
AFTER THE PERFORMANCE

Go to heyteachers.org and enter the code SEA24 to evaluate the program.

Distribute the Home Energy Surveys to your students and instruct students to complete them with their families and return the surveys promptly.

After your performance you will receive an email with a link to the Student Post-Performance Questionnaire. Instruct students in Grades 4-6 to use the link to complete the quick test no later than 4 weeks after the performance.

Hand out the Student Workbooks and have your students complete their activities.

Help your students to make use of the online games and educational activities to engage and reinforce energy-saving behaviours.

Collect and Return your student's Home Energy Surveys using the provided reply-paid envelope to Smart Energy Academy and fill out the accompanying quick form here to qualify your school for Rewards.

THE HOME ENERGY SURVEY
As part of the Smart Energy Academy, all classroom grade level teachers will be provided with Home Energy Surveys to distribute to all their students.
After watching the live performance, students take these surveys home to complete with their families, and then return them to school.
The survey is designed to measure the positive changes students’ and their families have made in their energy-saving knowledge and behaviour.

LIVE IN SCHOOL PERFORMANCE
The Smart Energy Academy live-in-school performance is coming to Queensland schools!
This 30-minute educational theatre performance educates and entertains all about energy efficiency for students in grades P-6.
The live performance will focus on the following educational points:

How YOU can SAVE ENERGY
Your students will experience important lessons on STEM and Energy Conservation, along with supplemental print and digital curriculum, as well as FREE energy kits for eligible grade 6 students, to get your entire school community excited about saving energy!
EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS
The Smart Energy Academy aligns with the Australian Curriculum in Queensland (ACiQ) and pairs excellently with what students are learning in class. You can view the program's curriculum connections HERE.
